The Harlequin Macaw is a hybrid resulting from the mating of a Blue and Gold Macaw (Ara ararauna) and a Green-winged Macaw (Ara chloroptera).

The harlequin macaw is a beautiful, popular hybrid parrot that makes an excellent pet for the right person. These birds thrive on socialization and a lot of interaction with other birds or people.

Size: A full-sized macaws and can reach a weight of 1.9-3.3 pounds (0.86-1.50 kg) and a length of 34 inches (86 cm).

There are no distinguishing features to differentiate males from females so DNA testing is the only reliable way to determine your bird’s gender.

Behavior and Temperament: These macaws love to bathe and you can get a shower perch and share the experience with your parrot. Misting them with a spray bottle is another option which they seem to enjoy. To keep your bird mentally stimulated it needs plenty of toys to keep it occupied. This includes chewing toys which it will destroy, but that are very important to its well-being. They are relatively hardy birds that can be prone to feather plucking if not kept mentally stimulated.

Lifespan: A Harlequin Macaw that is cared for properly can live more than 50 years.

Diet: Harlequin Macaws are not picky eaters and enjoy a wide variety of foods. Their base diet should consist of high-quality pellets, fruits, vegetables, seeds and spray millet which is a favorite treat.

DNA Testing:

If there is no gender option listed for a bird on our website, that particular species is ‘monomorphic’, which means we’re unable to determine gender without purchasing DNA testing. DNA testing is an additional $149 per bird to guarantee preferred gender. DNA testing may add an additional 3-6 plus weeks to estimated delivery time to allow for gender results. See our FAQs for more info.

Buy Hahn’s Macaw for sale

Original price was: $2,500.00.Current price is: $1,400.00.

The Hahn’s Macaw is one of three red-shouldered macaws kept as a pet throughout many households .They are on average 12 inches in length. They are a favorite of macaw fanciers due to their compact size, intelligence and superb pet quality. Though Hahn’s macaws are not as flashy as larger macaws, they, along with their close cousin, the noble macaw, is highly prized for their “large macaw” personality in a mini-macaw body.Hahn’s Macaws are capable of learning many tricks and behaviors and can become good talkers with practice. While they do exhibit many typical macaw behaviors such as screaming, they are a good choice for the bird lover that wants a macaw but isn’t quite ready to take on one of the big guys.  Mature Hahn’s Macaws are primarily green with darker greenish-blue feathers on their foreheads. They have a spot of bright red on the undersides of their wings in addition to black feet and a black beak. At maturity, their eyes resemble a burnt orange color, framed by the macaw’s classic white eye rings.Once the pairs have successfully mated, the female will lay between three or four white eggs. She will incubate them for approximately 24-26 days. Once the chicks hatch, they will grow rapidly and fledge around seven to eight weeks. Weaning is around 10 weeks. Some chick may take a few weeks longer if they are housed alone.
